Ashlyn's Happenings

Ashlyn has had a few things she did this summer that I wanted to document.
Her hair was getting so long that it would get tangled so easily and she would fight me whenever I tried to comb it.  I knew she needed a haircut but for some reason she was scared to get one.  I finally talked her into getting it done, so we went to my friend Lindsay's house to get it cut.  She kept it long but gave her a good trim.

My kids have really bad genes when it comes to the teeth department.  Their molars have really deep grooves in them and they get cavities really easily.  We had Jaxon's teeth filled when he was three to help prevent the cavities. Unfortunately for Ashlyn I had not taken her to the dentist since the twins were born.  Ashlyn had been complaining at bedtime that her cheek was hurting but I thought it was just an excuse to not go to bed.  My mom had the idea that maybe her tooth was hurting and she just didn't know.  I took her to the dentist and he said she had some really deep cavities in her back molars and he could do a little root canal on them and crown them but he didn't know if that would even save them.  After talking to the dentist we decided to have her teeth pulled instead.  She had to be put under anesthesia to do the procedure.  They had to give her a shot to help her calm down and it was so sad for me to see her all sedated.  The overall procedure went really well and she now has a couple spacers around her back teeth so her new molars will grow in the correct places.

*I hate these next pictures, they break my heart.

Driving home in the van, she was still really loopy and tired.

Now on to happier things...Ashlyn also started her new dance class.  She is taking a ballet/creative dance class once a week and she absolutely LOVES it.  She pays attention really well and has to be standing right next to the teacher the entire time :)

There is a local charity here in Eagle Mountain that was putting on a Princess Academy as a diaper drive.  The cost of admission was either a pack of diapers or wipes.  The girls all dress up as a princess then they learn different things from the 'real' princesses.  They learned a dance, made a paper princess, decorated a cookie, and got their picture taken with Rapunzel.  At the end all the little girls performed their dance for the parents.

Finally, a post about Ashlyn wouldn't be complete without some pictures of her falling asleep in random places :)

At the top of the stairs.

On the couch eating popcorn.

I love this girl more than she will ever know!!!
